Choose the glass, set the mood
The ridges in the glass catch the light and break it into soft highlights, so the shell seems to shimmer when lit. Which glass you choose changes the feel. Clear gives the most sparkle, frosted the calmest glow, and rose or green bring a gentle wash of colour to the wall around it.

Yes. It is wired into a wall lighting point, so it should be fitted by a qualified electrician.
No. The metal frame is assembled by hand, so small weld or solder marks on the back are normal. They sit against the wall and are hidden once the light is fitted.
A compact bulb sits best behind the shell. With clear glass the bulb can be seen, so a decorative filament style looks more finished than a plain one.
As a guide, 1.5 to 2.5 metres apart works in most corridors. Mark the positions with tape and stand back before drilling, since ceiling height and wall length change the effect.
Around eye level, roughly 150 to 170 cm from the floor to the centre of the light. That shows off the shell shape and keeps the bulb out of your direct line of sight.
On its own it gives accent light, not full room lighting. Use it alongside a ceiling light, or fit two or more to light a bedroom or hallway properly.
